Tell the Story

Bud to Boss Editors Leave a Comment

23When we ask you to BUILD BUZZ, we are really asking you to join us in telling a story. It’s our story, but it’s also yours.

The story of Bud to Boss began with supervisor training. As Kevin and Guy presented their training in cities across America, they listened to people’s questions and invited them to share their experiences.  All the stories seemed to return to common themes. Kevin and Guy took note of the themes, questions, and struggles they heard during their workshop. They used those themes to form an outline, and from that outline From Bud to Boss emerged.

Kevin and Guy’s book is a direct response to what they heard from the people attending the workshop. They wanted to meet the gap in training, resources, and support for people who are making a transition to leadership within organizations.

Our story continues with this book launch. We are using innovative and creative approaches in promoting the book. We have invited a group of leadership, HR, and career bloggers to use their influence to let others know about our book and community. In this way, we are getting our message out to many people, people who are interested in becoming more effective as leaders at work. If you are one of the bloggers partnering with us, you are a part of our story. We appreciate your involvement and the way your work is helping us build better leaders.

As we move closer to the book launch and beyond, an important part of our story will be the Bud to Boss Community. In the community, we are creating a place for people to find what they need to help them grow as leaders. We will point people to great resources available online as we feature many leadership, HR, and career bloggers. We will also invite people to share their leadership transition stories.

Today, I want to invite you to think about your story. If you are a seasoned leader, recall your first leadership experience. What training, support, or encouragement did you receive from others? What did you lack? What help can you give to emerging leaders in your organization? How could you use your experiences to make a positive difference to the emerging leaders in our community?

If you are a new leader, think about your recent transition. What was most helpful to you during your transition? What did you lack? We hope that you will find support, resources, and direction on the pages of our book, in one of our workshops, or online as you join us in the Bud to Boss community.

If you are still waiting for your first leadership position in your organization, we want you to be a part of our story as well. We hope the resources you find will prepare you to start strong as a leader. We’ll want to help you through the transition when it comes.

Our story centers on the book, the workshop, and the community. You join our story as you BUILD BUZZ with us and as you join us in our community to make a difference in the lives of developing leaders.

We hope you will take some time over the next 23 days to tell the story.
